An Introduction to Basic HTML

What is HTML, why is it useful, and how can we code with it?
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a programming language used to create webpages. It’s used to create webpage elements, such as images, text, headings, lists, tables, and virtually anything else you see on a webpage.
It is also often used in conjunction with other programming languages to make webpages more interesting or to create cool elements. Those other languages may include CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), which styles the webpage; JavaScript or jQuery, which can be used to animate sections of the webpage; and PHP, which powers the server side of the website (for back-end browser purposes). Combining HTML with these other languages can produce some amazing things, but it all starts with learning the very basics of HTML code.
Watch the video below to see me introduce some basic HTML and show how it can be used to code a very simple webpage. As a bonus, I also include how to integrate HTML and CSS by using IDs and classes.
P.S. Did you attend the March 19th coding STEAM Club session? If you didn’t, check out the recording! We looked at how to style the Einstein Tribute webpage used in the video. To access the recording, scroll all the way to the bottom of the coding activities page.
