Today’s Fact (07/06/2024)
Did you know immortality exists in nature? Just ask immortal jellyfish!
Turritopsis dohrnii, better known as “immortal jellyfish,” are a species of jellyfish that possess a remarkable trait: when faced with danger, adults can revert back to polyps and then grow into medusae again, essentially resetting (par. 4)! This can happen pretty much indefinitely, granting these jellyfish the title of longest-lived animals and basically immortality (at least, from a biological standpoint). Fascinating, isn’t it? (Too bad humans can’t do this :’))
