Fact of the Day: 28/11/2022

I’m sure we have all heard of the dodo bird. It was a brilliant species that dazzled those who studied it. Unfortunately, humans and invasive species caused its extinction, but scientists have found fossils to help them get an idea of what a dodo bird really was (par. 1). According to Britannica.com, “The dodo, bigger than a turkey, weighed about 23 kg (about 50 pounds)” (par. 2). The bird had feathers that were a mixture of gray, blue, and brown. It had a black bill and it also had wings even though it was flightless (par. 2). There has been some speculation that scientists may be able to bring this wonder species back, but for now we must content ourselves with our knowledge of the bird.
