Fact of the Day: 03/02/2021
Are colors real? The answer to that question depends on how you choose to view the world. According to many scientists, color is not inherently present in an object, but is rather the product of light. Light, in the scientific definition, is the presence of all colors at once, and thus, in order for us to see a certain color attributed to a certain object, that object would have to absorb all the other colors in order for a single color (or combination of colors) to shine through (be reflected). Take an apple for example. In order for us the see an apple as red, the apple would have to reflect the color red and absorb all the other colors so that our peripheral vision perceives the apple as red and transfers that message to our brain. However, in reality, an apple can be all colors in the rainbow – we just can’t see them.
