Fact of the Day: 02/03/2021
Have you ever wondered why you’re not supposed to bring food or water into a chemistry lab? Well, the reasons are quite simple. Food might get contaminated with chemicals, so might end up eating something that you’re not supposed to. Some chemicals are colorless, transparent liquids at room temperature – just like water – making it too easy to accidentally mistake hydrochloric acid (or another substance) for water and drink it. So next time your lab instructor reminds you of the no-food-or-drink rule, know that it’s for good reason!
