What happens to individuals with photic sneeze reflex? Photic sneeze reflex is a condition where individuals sneeze when exposed to bright light. Individuals inherit this trait genetically from their parents and it effects about 11% to 35% of the population, majority being white females. As of currently, there is no proven reason as to why bright light causes sneezing in individuals with this gene.
