Fact of the Day: 15/09/2021
How much water should you be drinking each day?
If you’re a teenager (which you likely are), you should be getting, on average, between 64-88 ounces (1.9-2.6 L) each day. Of course, recommended water intake varies based on your physical activity, the season, the temperature, your location, etc. However, a 68-ounce (2 L) target is always a good place to start.
There are many different ways you can stay hydrated, besides drinking actual water. Water-based drinks, such as teas, can also provide you with some water; and water-rich foods like vegetables and fruits contribute to your overall water intake as well. In fact, about 20% of our daily water intake comes from water-rich foods.
So, are you getting enough water each day? If not, consider how you can monitor your water intake to make sure your body gets what it needs. We are over 50% water by mass, after all.
