Fact of the Day: 05/11/2021
Have you ever noticed how reliant we are on zero? Say you get a 90 on an assignment (an A); if there were no zero, that 90 would be 9, which is a failing grade. We use zero a lot, but who discovered the properties of zero? We have only one person to thank, and that is the ancient Indian astronomer and mathematician Brahmagupta. He discovered many properties of zero. These include 0 – 0 = 0, and 0 ÷ (any number) = 0. Whenever you get a 90 or 100 on an assignment, you have Brahmagupta to thank for giving value to zero!
