Fact of the Day: 18/11/2021
When you go to the grocery store, do you see an aisle named “organic foods”? Have you ever wondered what that means? The term “organic” means that the food has no “. . . human-made pesticides and fertilizers, and does not contain genetically modified organisms . . .” (Duram par. 1). The main benefit to organic food is that no chemicals are used in its growing process. However, not all “organic” food is actually organic. When you are in the store and you find a vegetable that claims to be organic, make sure the food is certified. To do this, find a label saying “USDA organic – certified by the United States Department of Agriculture.” To conclude, the next time you meet one of your friends, ask them if they know what organic foods are, and share your knowledge. How is organic food different from non-organic food? And now that you know the difference, will you opt to buy organic food the next time you go shopping?
