Fact of the Day: 05/01/2022

Sometimes, when you look in a yard, you notice there are tiny plants. No one grew them, however; they grew by themselves. These types of plants—those that grow by themselves in places they’re not wanted—are known as weeds. How do weeds grow? According to Professional Greene inc, “Weeds are considered opportunistic and grow when conditions are favorable, such as specific temperatures, lawn moisture levels, bare or thin turf areas, and can even grow in cracks in the roads, sidewalks or driveways” (Windish par. 2). While they are fantastic at growing, they can pose problems, so here are a few tips to reduce weed growth in your lawn: keep the lawn dense, fertilize & mow regularly, water properly, and apply lime when pH of lawn soil is low (par.13-16, 18).
