Fact of the Day: 11/02/2022

Have you ever listened to guitar music or actually played a guitar before? Did you know that guitar-like instruments are actually old inventions? According to National Today, “By the end of the Middle Ages, people living in Europe were playing guitar-like instruments such as the ‘vihuela de mano’ and the ‘guitarra morisca’” (“National Guitar Day” par. 3).  If you have never played the guitar, today would be the best day to start because it is National Guitar Day! Here’s something you probably didn’t know: the word “‘guitar’ has its origins in the Ancient Greek word ‘kithára,’ which was used to denote a kind of harp” (par. 10). Happy National Guitar Day!
