Fact of the Day: 17/02/2022

We use satellites for many things, including GPS, radio communications, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, and more. Do you know who invented the satellite? According to APS, “. . .  on October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik, the first man-made satellite . . .” (“October, 1957”  par. 1) as part of the Cold War “Space Race” between the Soviet Union and the United States. Soon after, the United States responded with its own satellites, and, nowadays, many countries have their own satellites. If no one ever developed satellites, we would not have many of the advances that have become a part of our lives.
