Fact of the Day: 23/02/2022

Many people are familiar with the Mona Lisa (or Gioconda). It is a very famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci. How did it become famous in the first place? According to britannica.com, “The writers of the 19th century aroused interest in the Mona Lisa, but the theft of the painting in 1911 and the ensuing media frenzy . . .  caused an immediate sensation” (Zelazo par. 6). In a way, the loss of the painting made it more valuable than it had been before. Has something become more valuable to you because you lost it?
