Fact of the Day: 02/03/2022
Chemistry is a vital class to take in high school because it explains what everything is made of. Have you ever wondered who the founder (aka “father”) of chemistry is? According to Medichem.org, the answer to that question is Antoine Lavoisier (“History of Chemistry” par. 2). Lavoisier made many contributions to chemistry, including compiling a complete list of elements for that time, helping develop the metric system, standardizing nomenclature, and discovering hydrogen, oxygen, and the principle of conservation of mass (par. 2). His work paved the way for the advances of future scientists and chemists, and eventually for the creation of the periodic table of elements, without which we would not easily understand the patterns of elements and atoms.
