Many of us wear sunglasses to protect our eyes from the bright sun on a warm summer’s day. Do you know who invented the modern sunglasses? Frames Direct.com explains, “The first sunglasses made for the public came to light in the 18th century, when English designer and inventor James Ayscough created eyeglasses with blue or green tints” (“Who Invented Glasses?” par. 17). Next time you wear sunglasses, you have James Ayscough to thank.
