Fact of the Day: 11/05/2022

These days, people listen to music on their phones or computers. But music wasn’t always available on a music player. Who helped develop the first music player? According to SoftSchools.com, the evolution began with Leon Scott de Martinville’s phonautograph, which “could record, but could not reproduce sounds” (par. 3). However, it inspired Thomas Edison’s phonograph, which “made recorded music possible” (par. 4). Later on, Emile Berliner invented the gramophone, the first device that could play recorded music (par. 5). Did you know the gramophone and phonograph were inspired by the design of a phonautograph?
