Fact of the Day: 02/12/2022
We have all seen the equal sign used before, but what does it really mean? According to BYJUS.com, “the equal sign is the sign that helps us mathematically show equality between two representatives.” So, the equal sign literally shows that two things are equal to one another. The equal sign can be used in equations with only numbers, and can also be used in algebraic equations. The equal sign was said to be first used in 1557 by a Welsh mathematician named Robert Recorde. Next time you are in math class, think about how many times you use the equal sign, I bet it’s more than you think!
