Fact of the Day: 03/02/2023

Galaxies are enormous and incredibly complex. They house billions of stars and plants. We live in a galaxy called the Milky Way, but there are many others. How do galaxies form? Well, galaxies are stars, dark matter, and lots of dust being held together by gravity. According to SVS.nasa.gov, “Galaxies are thought to begin as small clouds of stars and dust swirling through space. As other clouds get close, gravity sends these objects careening into one another and knits them into larger spinning packs” (par. 1). Galaxies can vary in size, shape, and even color. The idea of how galaxies form is still just a theory, but over time scientists are slowly finding out more about the large universe around us.
