Fact of the Day: 08/10/2021
Have you ever wondered why you yawn?
Healthline, citing a study published in the Physiology & Behavior journal, claims that yawning is mostly related to brain temperature regulation. If your brain’s temperature strays too far away from its usual range, you may involuntarily inhale air (i.e., yawn) to help cool it down. Yawning also helps stretch lungs and lung tissues, and may force blood flow to your face and brain, which may help wake up your body and keep you alert.
