Fact of the Day: 09/12/2022

Isaac Newton’s name has graced everyone’s classroom at least once, but why is he so famous? Sir Isaac Newton was born in Woolsthorpe, England in 1643 (par. 3). He studied at Cambridge and became very interested in philosophy, calculus, and the idea of gravity. According to History.com, “Isaac Newton is best known for his theory about the law of gravity, but his ‘Principia Mathematica’ (1686) with its three laws of motion greatly influenced the Enlightenment in Europe” (par. 1). Newton also studied the color spectrum and how the different colors refract. He greatly influenced many branches of knowledge during his life, including physics, calculus, and, yes, even color. Though Sir Isaac Newton died in 1727, his legacy will continue to live on.
