Fact of the Day: 21/01/2022

Squirrels are cute and fuzzy creatures. If you’ve ever seen one, you may have noticed it climbing a tree, perhaps a tall one. Have you ever wondered if squirrels can fly? The answer is, it depends on the squirrel. There are many different types of squirrels, and one of these types, the flying squirrel, can fly—sort of. According to National Geographic, “Flying squirrels are known for soaring anywhere from 150 to 500 feet, sailing from tree to tree to avoid ground predators—but they actually glide rather than fly” (“Flying squirrels” par. 1). Did you know before reading this fact that there are squirrels that can ‘fly’?
