Are “black” and “white” colors? Scientifically, black is the absence of all light and color, and white is a combination of all colors. The only possible way to achieve these definitions of black and white are through a blackhole where there is absolutely no presence of light, and through light itself, respectively. In the art world, black and white are considered to be shades or the exact opposite of their scientific definition. Black is the presence of all colors combined, while white is the total absence of color. You could say the definitions of black and white aren’t exactly… black and white!
