Fact of the Day: 01/11/2021

We all know about potato chips. They are crispy thin sheets of deep fried potato. Have you ever wondered how this delicious fast food was created? Accounts as to the inventor (and creation story) of potato chips vary, but one of the most famous credits George Speck (pseudonym “Crum”). According to legend, a random man  went to Moon Lake house (where Crum was working) and ordered  his special french fries. When the man got his order, he wanted crispier fries, so Crum reluctantly made  slightly crispier fries.  Still, the man was not satisfied. Crum’s anger took over him. He cut the potato chips into very thin slices and deep fried them so that they  were hard to eat using food utensils. Surprisingly, the man loved these chips and wanted more. Crum had invented the potato chips we know and love. Next time you eat potato chips, think of this funny story.
