Fact of the Day: 06/09/2021

If you’ve taken a science class before, you probably know that air is mostly nitrogen, followed, in terms of abundance, by oxygen. But what are the exact percentages, and what else makes up air?

The atmosphere is approximately 78% nitrogen, and oxygen accounts for another 21%. Even though the remaining 1% consists of many different gases, including carbon dioxide, water vapor, krypton, methane, xenon, and others, the third most abundant gas is actually argon, accounting for 0.93% of the atmosphere’s composition!
