Fact of the Day: 16/11/2020

Protons and neutrons are the smallest and most basic particles in the universe, right? Not quite. Many students learn in basic science classes that protons and neutrons are the smallest fundamental particles that make up atoms. However, in 1964, scientists discovered that those fundamental particles are actually made of even smaller particles called quarks. There are six different types of quarks and they are held together by gluons in order to form protons and neutrons that are the basis of everything in the universe.
