Fact of the Day: 24/01/2022

We may know how to speak only one, or perhaps even several, languages. We know, though, that there are so many languages around the world. But how many are there, exactly? According to Ethnologue, there are over 7,000 languages currently spoken in the world. However, only 23 are used by about 50% of humans, and “roughly 40% of languages are now endangered, often with less than 1,000 speakers remaining” (par. 1).  Did you know there are so many languages around the world?
