We use Google for everything. Whether it is looking for cooking videos, searching the location of an area, or finding websites to use for an essay in school, Google is a part of our lives. Have you ever wondered where Google got its name from? “Google” actually comes from the term “googol,” which stands for the number 1 with one hundred zeros. According to ThoughtCo., “To the site’s founders, the name represents the immense amount of information that a search engine has to sift through” (The History of Google and How It Was Invented, par. 6). The next time you are with your friends, try to impress them with this tiny fact. After all, how many people actually know where “Google” comes from?
