Fact of the Day: 08/12/2022
Art comes in many forms, but Chinese art has many layers to it. Chinese art covers many topics and designs, from calligraphy to jade carving. It also seems to have been heavily influenced by the times in which it was being produced. According to Britannica.com, “One of the outstanding characteristics of Chinese art is the extent to which it reflects the class structure that has existed at different times in Chinese history” (par. 3). The art would drastically change depending on who was ruling at the time. For example, when China was under the Shang and Zhou dynasty, art was more heavily regulated, and while artists worked with many different art forms, the artworks produced all shared similar features (par. 3). Art has been part of Chinese culture from as early as 400 BCE. As the times progress, it will continue to reflect the changing values and diversity of Chinese culture.
