There are many different types of paintings, including portraits and self-portraits, landscapes, abstract paintings, etc. There are also many techniques that can be used to paint, and a plethora of paints to choose from. Have you ever heard of drip painting? According to curationist.com, “Drip painting is a form of abstract art in which paint is dripped or poured on to the canvas” (“What is Drip Painting?” par. 4). Many artists who have used these techniques are “Francis Picabia, André Masson and Max Ernst . . . [and] . . . mid-twentieth-century artists Janet Sobel and Jackson Pollock” (par. 4-5). Jackson Pollock in particular is famous for his drip paintings.
