Fact of the Day: 11/01/2022

We use printers for many things, like printing fun photos or doing homework. Who inspired the modern-day printer? Johannes Gutenberg, a German inventor, “originated a method of printing from movable type” (Lehmann-Haupt par. 1).  His invention is called the printing press. The printing press was one of the closest inventions to the modern-day printer. It revolutionized how books were created (previously they were handwritten), and, much later, allowed for the development of printers to copy to paper information that was written on electronic documents. If Gutenberg had never gotten the idea to invent the printing press, would we have been able to develop the modern printer that we use today for homework and other activities? Would we have even had as many books as we do now?
