Fact of the Day: 13/12/2022

There have been many people in the astronaut world that have been shooting for the stars, literally and figuratively. One of the most impactful of these people was John Glenn. Glenn was a member of the first group of astronauts to ever go to space. He started out as a Marine pilot, and was one of the soldiers that fought during the Korean War. Then, NASA went looking for the first group of astronauts to send to space. According to NASA.gov, “The seven men would fly on the Mercury spacecraft. NASA called these men the ‘Mercury Seven.’ John Glenn was one of them” (par. 3). Later in his life, he made a second trip to space at the age of 77 and became the oldest person to ever go to space. Glenn made a total of 2 trips to space, and these brave missions allowed NASA to gain new intel on space and the cosmos around us.
