Fact of the Day: 23/11/2021

We know about the all-famous jeans. Some of us wear them as casual wear; some of us wear them to be stylish. Regardless, they have become a part of life. Who invented the original jeans? The credit goes to two people: Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss. Strauss  owned the Levi store. One day, a regular customer—Jacob Davis—sent him an idea. According to History.com, the idea was “making work pants with metal rivets on the stress points—at the corners of the pockets and the base of the button fly—to make them stronger. As Davis didn’t have the money for the necessary paperwork, he suggested that Strauss provide the funds and that the two men get the patent together” (“Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis receive patent for blue jeans” par. 3). Strauss agreed, and jeans were born. The next time you see a friend wearing jeans, ask them if they know who created jeans. If not, share your knowledge!
