Fact of the Day: 10/11/2021

We know lots about chimpanzees nowadays, including that they use tools like we do, have emotions, etc. Who discovered this information? Her name is Jane Goodall. In “July 1960, at the age of 26 . . . [she] traveled from England to what is now Tanzania and ventured into the little-known world of wild chimpanzees” (“About Jane” par. 1). She made discoveries about chimpanzee behavior that we previously didn’t know, such as the fact that chimpanzees do indeed use tools and they form long-term bonds, like humans (“About Jane” par. 3). Thanks to her research, we know a lot more about chimpanzees than we did before, and we’ve discovered how similar they are to us.
