Fact of the Day: 14/12/2022

There are many important inventions that have been created throughout history that most people now disregard. One of these creations is known as the spinning jenny. What is a spinning jenny? According to Britannica.com, it’s an “early multiple-spindle machine for spinning wool or cotton” (par. 1). James Hargreaves first patented the machine in 1770. This invention made cloth- and fabric-making much faster and more productive. Machines like this one have had such a large and lasting impact on society and industry. Even though they may no longer be used, they helped lead to the modern technology we enjoy today.
