Fact of the Day: 18/11/2020
Cars powered from a pad in the ground, devices charged by just placing them on your desk, and entire cities powered without the need for cables or wires running from home to home – it all seems like futuristic science fiction! But with electromagnetic induction, the future is closer than ever.
An electromagnet is a simple circuit connected to a power source and a magnet, or a conductive metal with a charge. Induction is the ability to transfer charge from one object to another without needing them to touch. As a result, if we used electromagnets to conduct electricity for things like electric cars, devices, and even entire homes, while utilizing the science of induction to transfer that current… the possibilities are endless!
