Are bones living? Why yes, yes they are! Although your bones may seem like hard and unchanging things, they are actually alive and growing all the time. Your bones – although they have a very hard calcium exterior – have blood vessels and nerves running throughout them, allowing them to grow and change. Think about when you break a bone: if your bones were dead, then they would have no chance of being mended again. However, because they are alive, you can put the broken bone in a cast and splint, and eventually it will heal. Yay bones!
